Hike the Trust: Amy Weingartner Branigin Peninsula Preserve
As we explore our public preserves through our Hike the Trust series, join us at Amy Weingartner Branigin Peninsula Preserve and discover the rich natural and cultural history of this unique property on Lake Monroe. Along the trail, we’ll search for eastern box turtles, rough green snakes, and ripening persimmons while learning about ongoing field research and stewardship efforts. We’ll explore the preserve’s fascinating history, from limestone quarrying to its protection and restoration as a nature preserve, and discuss how these past land uses continue to shape the landscape we see today.
This event is part of the Indiana Land Trust Days, a statewide celebration of conservation featuring special events hosted by land trusts across Indiana, highlighting the importance of protecting and caring for the places that make our state unique.
