SUMMARY:Fall Bird Migration Hike
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the changing seasons with a guided hike to discover the incredible journey of fall bird migration! As summer gives way to autumn\, thousands of birds travel through our area on their way to their winter homes\, making this a wonderful time to explore local trails and see what feathered visitors we can find. \nThis special hike will be led by Volunteer Naturalist Jim Spier\, who will share his knowledge of local birds and migration patterns. Along the way\, you’ll learn why birds migrate\, how they navigate such long distances\, and what to look and listen for as we explore the trail. \nWhether you’re an experienced birder or simply enjoy spending time outdoors\, this hike is a fun and relaxing way to connect with nature and appreciate the wonders of the season. \nBring your binoculars if you have them (a limited number may be available to borrow)\, wear comfortable walking shoes\, and dress for the weather. You never know what birds we’ll spot along the trail! \n  \nWhat to Bring: Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle as there is no potable water at this location. \nWeather policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather with no rain date. \n\nThis event is part of Indiana Land Trust Days. RSVP on the host organization’s website so that you don’t miss a thing – updates\, reminders\, or the occasional weather related cancellation or delay.

SUMMARY:Mindful Birding @ Sargent Road Nature Park
DESCRIPTION:Mindful Birding is a practice combining mindfulness with the joy of birding. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us for our second “Land Trust Days” event of 2026! \nMichelle Morton\, Certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide\, will lead us through an introduction to “Mindful Birding”. \nMindful Birding is a practice combining mindfulness with the joy of birding. Connect with the natural world and the birds that inhabit it. This Mindful Birding experience\, led by a certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide\, takes place along a relatively flat gravel and grassy trail. During this session\, time is built in for quietly sitting\, wandering\, noticing birds\, resting\, and sharing observations as we travel up to 1.0 miles. Participants will be introduced to observation prompts\, meditations\, and/or journaling to promote a sense of presence and awareness. \nWith a background in elementary education and place-based learning\, Michelle Morton (she/her) leads mindful outings that connect participants to nature\, combining research on nature’s benefits with the power of reflection. \n\n\nThis event is part of Indiana Land Trust Days. RSVP on the organizer’s website so that you don’t miss a thing – updates\, reminders\, or the occasional weather related cancellation or delay.
