DESCRIPTION:Come discover what’s living\, growing\, and buzzing at Hilltop Farm Nature Preserve! \nParticipants will use the free iNaturalist app to document native trees and plants\, pollinators\, and songbirds along the trail system at Hilltop Farm Nature Preserve. The hike combines two trail loops for a total of 2.5 miles. Hilltop Farm Nature Preserve sits on a ridgetop high above the Whitewater River valley on land formerly farmed by the Doud family. Today it serves as a natural haven for hiking and nature observation. This event is open to all visitors. \nWhat to bring: sunscreen\, insect repellant\, binoculars\, water bottle\, shoes suitable for varied terrain.

DESCRIPTION:Experience Meadowbrook Nature Preserve in a whole new way with a guided late afternoon soundwalk led by sound artist and acoustic ecologist Eric Leonardson. \nInstead of focusing on what you see\, this unique experience invites you to slow down\, listen deeply\, and discover the rich tapestry of sounds that bring the preserve to life. As the afternoon shifts toward evening\, you’ll tune in to birdsong\, buzzing insects\, rustling leaves\, flowing water\, changing weather\, and even the subtle sounds of human activity that shape the landscape around us. \nThrough simple listening exercises\, quiet moments of observation\, and guided reflection\, you’ll explore the natural world from a fresh perspective and leave with a deeper appreciation for the sounds that often go unnoticed. \nWhether you’re a nature enthusiast\, an artist\, or simply looking for a peaceful way to reconnect with the outdoors\, this immersive experience offers a memorable way to experience the preserve through the power of listening. \n  \nWhat to Bring: Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle as there is no potable water at this location. \nWeather Policy: Rain or shine.
