Fall Equinox Acoustic Ecology Hike

Experience Meadowbrook Nature Preserve in a whole new way with a guided late afternoon soundwalk led by sound artist and acoustic ecologist Eric Leonardson.
Instead of focusing on what you see, this unique experience invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and discover the rich tapestry of sounds that bring the preserve to life. As the afternoon shifts toward evening, you’ll tune in to birdsong, buzzing insects, rustling leaves, flowing water, changing weather, and even the subtle sounds of human activity that shape the landscape around us.
Through simple listening exercises, quiet moments of observation, and guided reflection, you’ll explore the natural world from a fresh perspective and leave with a deeper appreciation for the sounds that often go unnoticed.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, an artist, or simply looking for a peaceful way to reconnect with the outdoors, this immersive experience offers a memorable way to experience the preserve through the power of listening.
