Hike the Trust: Columbia Mine

Bobcats, Box Turtles, and Blue Grosbeaks! Columbia Mine Preserve is full of surprises! On this Hike the Trust adventure, we’ll explore a landscape where nature is steadily reclaiming a former mining site through decades of restoration and careful stewardship. This preserve is managed through a strong partnership between Sycamore Land Trust and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, working together to guide habitat recovery and support thriving forests, wetlands, and wildlife. As we walk, we’ll discuss the ever-changing landscape that tells a powerful story of resilience, recovery, and conservation in action.

This event is part of the Indiana Land Trust Days, a statewide celebration of conservation featuring special events hosted by land trusts across Indiana, highlighting the importance of protecting and caring for the places that make our state unique.
